Ghost: A ghost is the energy, of a person who has died and has somehow gotten stuck between this plane of existence and the next. Most researches believe that these spirits do not know they are dead.. Very often they have died under Traumatic, unusual or Highly emotional circumstances. Intelligent Haunting: In this style of haunting the entity or entities is aware of their surroundings. These entities can acknowledge the existence of the humans around them and will even try to communicate with you. These spirits can touch you, move things around, make noises, change the temperature in the room, can even be seen as a black shadow. But they are not out to scare you, just want to be noticed.. ORBS: Round, opaque lights of energy captured on film.. Or are they just moisture spots, dust floating in the air, or possibly a small flying insect.. You be the judge.. Paranormal: Beyond the range of normal experience or scientific explanation. Residual Haunting: The most common type of haunting is a residual haunting. A residual haunting is like a broken record player, repeating the same thing over and over..Some would say the spirit is loss in a time warp, the spirit isn't really there, just the energy. In some cases you may hear screaming, crying, footsteps walking up and down stairs. Some of this is brought on by the traumatic event that happen in their human live.. Vortex: An anomaly which sometimes shows up in still photography taken at the site of a suspected haunting, appearing as a translucent white mass. It can be seen in different shapes, some researches believe this is a portal to the spirit realm. Are Ghosts Evil? Despite the teachings of some religious faiths, traditional ghosts are “not” evil or harmful. Over the years. some have come to believe that study of the paranormal is linked to the occult arts. This has prompted many people to think that ghosts and “demons” are one in the same. Many faiths teach that ‘communing with spirits’ is wrong and this has led the followers of these faiths to assume that, because it is considered wrong, the spirits themselves must be “evil”.. In addition, I have spoken with people who feel that ghosts are the benign spirits of the dead at all, but demons who pretend to be ghosts in order to kill, maim and terrify the living. Needless to say, there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever to suggest that this is the truth... which leads us to our next question.. Do Ghosts Hurt People? There have been instances of people being hurt by ghosts and by paranormal activity in their homes. However, it should be stressed that this is not the normal state of affairs and that instances of injury (caused directly by spirits) are very , very rare. As mentioned previously in this book, injuries have been reported because of displaced objects in a haunting and people have also been injured in accidents, usually caused by a fear of the activity.. I have often stated that more people are injured running away from a haunted house than by anything going on there. In fact, (despite what Hollywood tends to portray) cases involving injury are so rare that we tend to focus on them for years afterward. Many readers may be familiar with the story of the Bell Witch of Tennessee, a ghost that purportedly not only injured the occupants of the location but also took credit for killing one of them. This event happened nearly two centuries ago and we are still taking about it today. That’s how seldom people are ever really hurt by ghosts.
